Embracing Domesticity and Other Things on my Mind

I have been at this new unemployed and domestic lifestyle for only a few days and I must admit that I am a lot busier than I originally thought I would be. Seriously, there is nobody waving me with a fan as they feed me grapes, weird. I am pleasantly surprised at how quickly my days are filling up. No boredom here.

In line with my new domestic life I find that I have been baking. I think this also has a great deal to do with my newly developed pregnancy sweet tooth. I have never been one to dream about sweets, but last night I woke up wanting cake...bizarre. Plus I have people to share my surplus goodies with. Last night I made a batch of peanut butter cookies and they are sooo good. Tomorrow I will be making lemon bars for Eric's birthday. He's not much of a cake guy, so we're going with birthday lemon bars.

I have had a serious fear of vegan baking since my 1st attempt, many years ago, at vegan chocolate cake ended in chocolate sludge (which was still delicious), but all of these little successes are helping me to get over my vegan baking fears.

You can see in the above photo that I am still not looking particularly pregnant, but I swear there is a little belly there. To accentuate the belly growth I find that I stand sway back when people are taking a look, it's kind of ridiculous. I am on to wearing my loosest clothes as maternity clothes are still a bit tent like for me. On the other hand I am feeling movement every single day. It is really quite a bizarre sensation to have someone living in your guts. I love just sitting on the couch in silence as I feel the little one move.

Speaking of the little one, we are planning to find out the gender in May (although we already have a reasonable idea here's a hint: it is either a)a boy or b) a girl). What do you think, should I announce the gender here on the blog or just wait for the birth announcement?

I would LOVE to know, but it's entirely up to you, of course. :-) It sounds like everything is going just ducky for you right now, and I'm so glad! (((HUGS)))

Oh you totally need to share!! Everyone I know is having a boy right now... so you'll either match my other friends or be trendsetter (if that is possible with having a kiddio).

The picture of you and Bumblebee looks like it should be on the back cover of a cook book.

I would love it if you announced the gender when you found out. But thats only because I am a real impatient person. So it would be for entirely selfish reasons. Do what feels best to you. By the way... I think you are having a little girl.

I think its totally up to you if u want to post... have u picked out names yet? I know w/our first that was the very first thing we did... We thought I was having a boy which proved us wrong twice and third time when we least expected it, BOY.... then again there was a big age gap between the second and him at least 6 years... My friend who was in the same boat as me had the same happen to her...
I see your faithful companion at your feet!... wonder if she senses a baby?

oh! i want to know! :)

and i never looked very pregnant to other people . . . i hardly wore any maternity pants. i stretched by regular low-rise pants by looping a rubber band through the button hole and around the button. i got to the point where i needed the length/room of a maternity shirt. but . . .

as to the little person swimming around inside - you equated the movement to a fish - that's how i had described to movement to my little brother (years ago)! "imagine a fish swimming around in your belly" i told him. enjoy those movement moments. :)

Nice to see photos of the new house. Looks cosy - and you're already baking there!

Think carefully how much you wanna reveal in public, it's a very personal matter (who am I to say... but anyway).

You know none of us could wait it out. Announce, Announce!!

But, seriously do what you feel is best. I'm sure some of us could find patience somewhere?

I hope you thoroughly enjoy each minute of your newly unemployed, fully domesticate ;-) life!!! I'd love to know if it's a little boy or girl, but I think you're right, it's definitely one or the other ;-).

I have been in a baking mood too! I think it is the whole pregnancy craving thing. You should do a post on some of the vegan things you use in your baking adventures. And maybe bake a cake that has either blue or pink frosting???

Definitely share as much as you are comfortable with - I was so totally the opposite with Scout - sweet things made me feel sick and all I wanted was salty - it is weird...

What a great shot of you and Bumblebee! You look wonderful. I think you should have everyone guess the gender and see if their intuition is working! I would bet your mom knows!
