So it occurred to me that I completely forgot the Kindness Bandit last week. I was all caught up in the business of moving in. Last Thursday or Friday I was feeling a bit off and it struck me that I had missed my Kindness Bandit mission. Not to worry I have a Kindness Bandit moment for this week.

I have a punch card for a free coffee at a local coffee shop. I have been working on it for probably a year or more. Each time we came to town to visit family my brother Sam and I would go out for coffee and I would dutifully have the card punched.
I have had a full card since we visited in February. No I haven't been drinking caffeinated coffee (not good for pregnant ladies). It dawned on me that I should just pass the free drink along. So, I am on my way to drop the card off at the coffee shop and ask them to pass it along to their next customer. These bad boys are the jackpot too, because you can really get the works...any drink for free. If you live in the same town as me you just may want to hustle to the Blue Heron. I am on my way....now.
Also, if this is not enough Kindness Bandit for you, click here and visit my friend and sort of family (by way of a couple of marriages) Melissa over at Dwelling in the Details. She was the recipient of a Kindness Bandit moment herself. Read her wonderful story.

Thought of you today and witness my own KB moment. Standing in line at the library coffee shop. Two women in front of me. The first orders. It takes ages. The second waits patiently. Then the first says...why don't I just put yours on our tab? It will probably move things along more quickly for you." The second, a homeless woman, requested a hot chocolate. The first woman said, "Make it an extra large." Brought tears to my eyes.
i just got through reading her post.. its nice to know people still do things w/out expectation of repayment... as i told your friend, the thrill is paying it forward.
I love when the punch card is all filled up! It makes me feel like I accomplished something, and then I get a reward too?? Awesome.
But yeah... it taks me a long time to get the free one too.
sigh.
wow, just read Melissa's post - isn't that brilliant! I love reading stories like that.
I am sure the recipient of your coffee card will have a really happy day because of it!
Sweet. :-) I don't drink coffee myself but I've eaten a lot of chocolate lately and it can't be good for the baby. Contains a lot of theobromine. I'm trying to stop...
That "Settling in" -photo is really nice.
PS. We have moved, up there and here:

just hi to you maria.
i hope you are loving your new little house and your new little routines.
hugs your way.
A very sweet gesture indeed. I looooooove coffee, but coffee helped me figure out I was pregnant (by only a few days). I woke up and the smell I found so intoxicating made me gag...and it did until I gave birth!
See, and now I'm craving a trip to the Starbucks on campus.... if only because I don't have other coffee shop options.
P.S. My word verification word is wines... is it a sign I should consume some tonight?
"Friend and sort of family" - nicely put!
I am sure your punch card was a fun treat. I love when the 'coupon fairy' leaves her surprises at my grocery store!
I enjoy your optimism :)
