Swine Flu

Photobucket

Well I caught the swine flu, a bit strange since I've hardly been out of the house since Cordelia was born, but I have it none the less. Thank goodness I spotted it early and we're taking tons-o-preventative measures to keep Eric and Cordelia flu free...at least thus far. Let me tell you it's no small accomplishment to nurse and try not to share germs. I have spent the last day and night wearing a mask. We are sanitizing everything like crazy people.

I was thankfully able to get my fever under control and I feel a lot more normal today. So, hopefully we will sail through this quickly.

Eric has been so amazing and helpful. I hit the jackpot with him

Sounds bad. I really hope that the baby doesn't catch it - but that's gonna be hard. Well at least you lead a healthy life so you'll probably produce antibodies faster than others and Cordelia will eventually get them too.

I've heard that swine flu is not so serious after all for healthy people. My kids have had a normal flu (or a couple of them) for two months now, also the baby, so average flus can be pretty tough too. There's no fever but the two year old girl got pneumonia which we didn't even notice at first until she stopped eating. Now she's a bit better.

Good luck and feel better soon!

Should I guess that u are nursing? If so, C.'s immune system is strong. I had the flu when I was nursing my last and he is the strongest of all 3.... Since E. works, I would guess he may have brought the germ in? and he may not have any symptoms at all..Glad u guys are sanitizing... Tell E. to keep his hands away from his face, that's the main way the germ can get in the system....

My daughter had the swine flu last week, Noah had the regular flu and pneumonia this week, and Karl had tonsillitis. So we definitely feel your pain. Luckily - the other poster was right, its really not any worse then the regular flu! Praying for a speedy recovery for you!

You've been tested for H1N1? Feel better... at least by nursing you might help prevent Cordelia from getting it! I'm glad you are doing all you can to prevent Eric and Cordelia from catching it (although not surprised!) - I've heard some first hard stories of bad effects of H1N1 for kiddos.

Stacy, no testing for H1N1, it's so widespread in this town that they aren't testing anyone anymore. Everybody has it...except Eric and Cordelia (so far).

Oh Maria, I'm sorry! You're one healthy vegan though so you will be fine :)...and Cordelia is getting that vegan supermilk so she's going to be just fine too!

Up your probiotics though, whole food Vitamin C, and Zinc!!! And get Vitamin D whenever possible...OH and definitely be taking Echinacea and Elderberry tinctures...those are AWESOME for colds/flu and are completely safe while breastfeeding...Hope all is back to normal soon!

I'm thinking that it didn't really take Swine Flu for you to realise you hit the jackpot with Eric...!! But it is so lovely to be continually reminded by the way he treats you.

Oh dear, you poor thing! It must have been a bit of a shock. That is scary that your whole town has it.

In Australia there is a free swine flu injection now. Do you have that over there?

Get better soon! :)

Maria Rose said...

Yes, there is a swine flu vaccination, but it's not available in this town until Sat. and that's too late for us. Generally I don't get flu vaccines anyway.
