A Lesson of Sorts... And Last Day -o- Giveaway

I feel as though I need to come clean here. When I spot little kids with runny noses I am a) totally grossed out and b) a little bit condescending towards the parents ("Do they not see what's running down their child's face?"). Life is full of lessons, some of them harder than others. This week I got a little education on that particular subject.

Clean nose
Cordelia, sporting a now clean nose

My sweet little lady had a very runny nose and it was all I could do to keep up with it. Kleenexes, toilet paper, and (grooooossss) she even helped herself to my shoulder---I couldn't keep up with my own standards. I took her out in public, knowing full well that I was fighting a losing battle. Eventually (sooner rather than later) I just gave in and accepted that I was doing the best job I could and it would just have to be good enough.

Sure there may have been a few folk, who obviously had never fought this battle, who gave condescending looks--but I thought to myself, "Oh they'll learn. Oh yes they'll learn."

The moral of the story is simply Judge not, turneth thine eyes from baby snot.

Today is your last chance to enter for a chance to win some free books (see yesterdays blog). Simply leave a comment. I will announce a winner tomorrow!

Yes, those of us who plan to be moms should definitely keep this in mind. :-)

I think that was the 11th commandment, but it got chipped off or something....

While I'm here I will confess something too: I sometimes just use my kid's shirt to wipe his/her nose. In desperation of course.

i am so with you.
i used to be that person - about runny noses, about messy back seats in cars, about children being rude to their parents in public . . . now i'm a parent . . . and sometimes my kids have snot noses, and sometimes the back seat of my car looks like a tornado tore through and sometimes my children are rude to me in public . . . and i do my best and deal with them all the best i know how or the best i have energy for at that moment . . .

you're a good mama - even if miss c sports a snot nose every now and then. :)

I hear you, runny noses are so gross, although much worse on other people's kids than my own...
