Art Giveaway

Yesterday we finished it off. We finally got the last of our loot from our old apartment and now all of our stuff is at our new home. Eric took 2 loads of art from our place. We already had a bunch of art here...

When it was all said and done we surveyed the mountains of art and realized that we have a problem. We love art. We love having art to look at, to enjoy, to ponder over time. Some of the best advice we ever took was to get real art, not prints and posters or factory made stuff. We took that advice and ran with it and well now we realize that we need to set some parameters for ourselves.

Just the tip of the iceberg

The art is a combo of stuff we have made, been given, found or collected. The pieces range in style, genre, medium, artist, technique, subject matter, etc. The only truly unifying theme is that each piece is treasured by both of us. With that said we really do need to manage our collection. We haven't acquired any new work in quite some time, but that still leaves us with a lot of art.

Our problem has become your opportunity. I have decided to start occasionally having an art giveaway on this blog in an attempt to downsize our collection. Today I am having a 2 part giveaway, this pair of highly textured paintings (careful examination will reveal that you are looking at 2 landscapes) by yours truly will be given away. Just leave a comment and you will be entered into the giveaway. For additional entries you can:
  • blog about the giveaway
  • tweet about the giveaway
  • follow this blog
  • post on facebook about this giveaway
Just let me know what you have done in the comment box and you will be entered to win up to 5 times! I will choose the winner at random and post later this week! Good luck.

Ahh...the moving purge. It feels good doesn't it! I eventually came to realize that minimal living is a thing of beauty.

We had the same overwhelming realization last year. Mat hates moving. I like the idea, but never seems to be as fun as it should be.

I shared on Facebook and follow the blog. = ) Good luck with the reorganizing! As a college student who has moved around an inordinate amount of times in the last few years, I completely understand about having too much of everything.

It's a good problem to have. We just moved into our first home as well and have yet to adorn our walls with something special. It's a process, this whole moving and unpacking thing. Though you seem to have a better handle on it than I! =)
