Last night we spent the evening over at my parent's house. The usual happy chaos surrounded us. The dogs went wild. Cordelia played chase with my father. We had pizza and salad and a sugary grape kool aid. My parents and Eric spent some time looking through family histories...apparently I have some rather seedy characters down one family line. Eric discovered an ancient and direct family line that he was able to follow back to 160 AD...yikes!
After a lovely evening spent with my parents we decided to head home. When we came outside we could see that the snow, which had been falling gently all day, had finally begun to accumulate a bit. We loaded into the car and hit the road.
The roads were pretty bad in our car that does not have 4 wheel drive (we really need to remedy that). We had to try a few different approaches as the hilly area we call home had not been plowed and we found ourselves sliding around in the weird combo of snow, slush and ice. Eric drove slowly. Cordelia made plans for fun activities when we got home. Bumblebee whined softly (she always whines in the car).
When we got home we were greatly relieved that we hadn't had to park down at the bottom of our neighborhood and hike up to our house in the snow. We settled in for a night of cozy warmth in our home.
This morning we awoke to bright sun illuminating our house, sparkling off the snow.
Eric has the day off and I think it's going to be a good one.
