Giving

Saturday morning was kinda blah. We had a couple of kid related meltdowns. Nothing major, just a kind of a meh morning. We all rallied and ran some errands before coming back home for lunch. When the girls were done eating Eric went out to skate for a bit and I was planning our meals for the week and prepping a grocery list when the girls came downstairs with piggy banks in hand. They had conspired and asked me if they could please go to the shelter where we adopted Lucy and donate their money. I set down my pen, closed the cookbook I had been thumbing through and told them to get their shoes and jackets.

We hopped in the truck and drove to the shelter. The girls each carried their own bank and peered up at the manager. He held out a big container for them to empty their banks into...staff gathered to watch the two adorable girls. One kind woman said that they had probably donated enough to feed all of the cats in the room. The girls were beaming.

Then they invited the girls to pet cats in one of the cat rooms.

They each tried their hardest to be calm and slowly approach each cat, Elise struggled a bit with this. They wanted to make sure each cat was pet and shown some love before we left.

The girls made me so proud with their kind hearts. When we left the shelter and were driving away Cordelia said,"I feel really happy about what we did."
