We have lived in our home for 6(?) years. Since day one we have said that we should look up in the attic, but we didn't. Time has passed. We have talked about the skeletons which are surely stacked in the dark corners, even though we know and love a previous resident of this home who are certainly not skeleton in the attic types... Next we moved on to an imagined family of squirrels or raccooons, even though we have never heard a single sound from the attic.
We probably would have looked sooner if the entrance were big enough that we could store big art up there, but it is a small opening. A person could get up there, maybe a small painting, but not worth the effort.
Anyway, over the years Eric and I have made bets and dared each other to look into the attic, but we still never followed through. I mean probably we are just really lazy and that is why we never looked. Also you can tell from the outside that the attic isn't very big, so no secret hidden rooms were up there. Oh man, let me tell you how many dreams I have had about finding more space in our house! Finding another room is clearly not gonna happen, but that is where my dreams lead...also they lead me to dream about buying and demolishing our neighbors house (sorry neighbors) and using their land to build a secret garden with a giant walled fence. Oh, back to the attic now...
Then, a couple of nights ago Eric very unceremoniously grabbed a ladder and decided that it was time for a look. He climbed up, turned on the light from his phone and looked. Then it was my turn!
What did we see? Nothing. Just wood and insulation. You could maybe lay some boards up there and crawl, but there would be no point to it. No skeletons or raccoons or squirrels or hidden boxes of treasure or anything. So, six years of building it up and the attic really did not live up to the hype.
