Hard Part

I remember the day we signed the papers on our happy yellow house. I remember walking through the house saying,”I can’t believe this is ours!” We had paint colors chosen and started painting right away. It was our first home and we still love it. We have spent years settling in and making wonderful memories. We have had so many happy times inside this house. I don’t want to leave it.

Which is why I have been dragging my heels about contacting a realtor. Today though, I had to as we don’t really have a choice. We have to go and we can’t just stay. So I sent my email to the realtor. She immediately contacted me back to arrange a walk through. I had a little private cry fest. Then I stopped wallowing and started planning. It is real now.

This is the hard part.

People keep assuring us that we are gonna be great, that it will all work out. Of course that is true. And we are excited to have a job and a new house and to get to know a community, but before all of that comes the hard part.

I hear you... it broke my heart to sell our first house in California...I LOVED our little 1950s house. It was perfect and I felt so connected to it. We are just starting the process of selling our second house (which I am not particularly attached to) and moving into our third (which is our dream property!), which is both a GIANT PAIN as we just moved into our second house a year and a half ago, but the house we are moving to is our hopefully-forever house, and it is very exciting. Short-term pain for long-term gain is my motto! Once you get into the process it will become more exciting, but it is so painful to get through that initial part. Our houses are our homes and they matter. I will be thinking of you as you continue along your adventurous path -- it WILL all be fine, and better-than-fine, but there are rocky parts for sure, along the way. Big hugs to you all.

Thank you! I am definitely going back in forth emotionally, but a little more forward each day.
