Cody

Eric had curatorial biz-ness up in Cody, WY this week so the girls and I decided to accompany him on a little adventure. While he spent much of his time in meetings we were able to fit in plenty of family fun too!

Have you ever been to Cody, WY? It is a small town less than an hour from Yellowstone. The town has a touristy vibe with plenty for out-of-towners to do and see. I cannot wait to return when the girls are a bit older when we can take a tour to see wild mustangs!!!!

For now though we contented ourselves with other activities.

We found a restaurant called Whole Foods (not the grocery chain) that had some delicious vegan options.

We did a little thrifting/ antiquing.

While in one thrift store I spotted this jade plant. Look how big it is!? I asked the management about its age and was told that she is 104 years old!!!!!

I also scored a painting which I will tell you about tomorrow!

There was also some swim time!

Which totally knocked out our "three and three quarter" years old girl.

We then hit up the Buffalo Bill Museum. Whoa! We had no idea what we were in for, that museum is huge and world class. While there is a section on Buffalo Bill (So named because he killed over 4,000 buffalo, jerk) there is an amazing art collection, a wing on the plains Indians, a wing dedicated to nature/biology/geology/etc.

There was a place for the girls to stop and draw.

Even some outdoor features.

The craziest part was the Buffalo Bill hologram. It was science fiction meets old west.

A recording of an actor playing Buffalo Bill was projected onto a thin curtain of fog.

It was crazy.

The girls were enchanted by this family band.

We had a lovely time enjoying the quaint little town!

Wonderful photos. Nothing beats family adventures.
We only had time for the natural history/geology part of the museum. I hope to get to go again and see more.

Looks like you guys had a great visit to Cody! I wish we'd found that restaurant while we were there. My mother-in-law is an almost vegan and the only place we could find was a crappy Mexican restaurant.
