The Couple that Dresses Together Stays Together/ Is Weird

Eric and I have always worked to be true to our own selves in all areas of life. We search diligently through thrift stores to find unique outfits that we feel fit our own personal style. We rarely run into anyone else dressed just like us. After being a couple for 11 years our selves have begun to bleed over in one strange little way. Our clothes.

Over the past few years we have noticed that we are dressing more and more alike. Sometimes this is great, if we match to some degree. It's nice to go out on a date and look like a couple. However, we will often wear the masculine/feminine versions of each other's outfit and that is borderline bizarre.

For instance, Eric will wear black pants with a red shirt. Lo and behold I will be wearing a black skirt with a red shirt. We never EVER plan to do this, but it just happens. Usually we catch this before we go out in public as the matching couple and one of us will change. We call ourselves Team Wimmer, but a uniform is really not necessary.

Have you ever dressed the same as a spouse, friend or sibling?

We've done the color matching thing before. Makes me all warm and fuzzy when it happens (quite by accident).

yes. my mom used to dress my sister and i alike. when we were little i hardly even noticed. then when i was 13 and she was 8 - i HATED it. now she and i have similar tastes and we often show up to family things both wearing the same top - but she has the round neck version and i have the v-neck, or mine was from target and hers was from old navy . . . it always makes us laugh. :)

my mom and i do the same thing. we both showed up to church on sunday wearing similar black flats, nylons, khaki just-below-the-knee skirts, black tops, with different sweaters.

i like it when ben and i are wearing similar things when we go out - like you said - looking like a couple. but ben always laughs at me. :)

my little girl likes to match with me. and i think that is very fun.

so that is my epic tale of matching . . .

My boyfriend and I have been together almost 15 years and we don't even point it out anymore.

Well we don't match, but we coordinate...sometimes it's very subtle, but yeah we pretty much always coordinate as a couple and now as a family with our babe:). It's fun, but once you start, you just can't stop...

I catch myself frequently doing this with my daughter. I get dressed in the morning, go to pick out her clothes, get them on her, to finally see an hour later I have put her in something very similar to what I'm wearing. This makes sense though given since I purchase her clothes, I would naturally tend to buy something I would like - lol. But yes, there has been the occasion where Nate and I will get dressed and end up wearing the same colours - both in a blue shirt and jeans for example. We just laugh it off and go out looking like a matching trio :)

We often joke about it but in reality my husband usually checks what I'll be wearing and then chooses something matching. Because that way we look better together. But we never wear exactly the same clothes. I once saw a couple who both wore jeans and a white t-shirt and it seemed a bit odd to me. But many older couples buy similar outdoor clothes here and that's actually a common joke in Finland.

I dress my twin girls alike. Right now it's just easier to think of one outfit for them to wear instead of two. And I think it's cute. But I'm sure this matching phase will be over soon. Probably when they start kindergarten in another year. My husband wears a lot of black and grey, so anytime I wear those colors we end up matching too.

When my husband and I first met he was very, very thin and could wear my belts and some of my really baggy sweaters - I loved when he wore my stuff, I thought it was so sexy in a very sort of bff kind of way. This is no longer possible because he weighs about 40lbs more now than he did then, but he's not really over-weight - he was just super, super skinny before.

Justin and I often end up accidentally dressed the same, which always makes us laugh. Sometimes, even Mila is dressed like us, it is all a bit Royal Tenenbaums.

As a matter of fact, just yesterday I walked up to my boyfriend and said, "AHHH, we match!!", when I realized we had on the same color shirts... That is so funny to read this now!

I tend to dress the girls in either a similar style or colour scheme to what I am wearing on a particular day - this is so unconscious and I am usually not aware of it until someone points it out!!

do you know what, never deliberately. Sometimes me and one of my sisters accidently buy the same thing and wear it at the same time, but it just makes us laugh at our equally great taste! (haha)

We actually had matching ski sweaters at one time (we really did ski) - but we never wore them out in 'public' - I made my sister and her husband a matchy-matchy set of ski sweaters as well (they ski too) - I wonder if they have any pics of them wearing them...

Our mother made matching clothes (shirts mostly) for the five of us..out of spent chicken feed bags. They used to come in cute prints and colors, we never knew we were poor..no one else had what we had!
