Here is the top of our computer cabinet. We have a little cabinet that closes up and hides away our computer. Sometimes it is just necessary to take a break from the computer; I know it's a scandalous suggestion, but I like to be edgy like that. Anyway, the light blue typewriter belonged to Eric's mother and we still use it. The brass lotus candle holder and the gold clock are both thrift store finds. The owl print is by an etsy artist named Ryan Berkley whose whimsical artwork has charmed my socks off.
Eric and I found this Stow/Davis credenza on craigslist. When we got it home we found a bunch of receipts and old documents for some sort of grain business. The prints above the credenza are by Lester E. Varian; we found them already matted and framed at a local thrift store for a couple of dollars. The lamp is a junk store find, but we are absolutely in love with it. I have no idea who the maker is.
So our couch is not a thrift store find, nor is Bumblebee. The photo above of Susan the Elder was an antique store find. The coffee table we found at the Salvation Army.
Here is our dining room. The chairs are yet another thrift store find, can you believe it? The art is by relatively unknown artists; the painting is by Lambro Ahlas and the bird print is by Fujita Fumio. Eric and I love to find and rescue art (we are both art historians lest you forget) that is languishing in thrift stores, junk stores, on the Internet or at garage sales. The light is coming from our egg lamp which was still another thrift store find. Should I just write a disclaimer and say we decorate from thrift stores????
Bedroom So here is part of our bedroom. The awesome dresser was found at.....Hobby Lobby. I know, it's a weird place to find awesome (impractical) furniture, but we did. The top drawer is really just for show. I think we have one cassette tape in there. The 1960s owl print (another thrift store find) is by Kawano Kaoru.
Here is a final shot of our bedroom. Eric found the dresser abandoned in the hallway of our apartment complex. The lamp was found at a local glass collectible store, thought it's not glass. The amazing painting is by my husband E.K. Wimmer. Speaking of my hubby, he just released a single which you can see here.
So, this is sort of the catch-all room. Normally it houses a ridiculous amount of books; only about 15% of our book collection actually appears in the photo. We have them from our zillion years of college, thrift store finds and treasures from our childhood. The two paintings on the white wall are by me and the print is by Toyokuni Utagawa.
The peacock painting is a collaborative piece by both of us. Eric did the background and I painted the peacock. We have gifted it to our beloved Mr. Copeland, but still need to drive down to NM and deliver it. The chest belonged to my Grandfather; he died before I was born and I absolutely treasure this.
Finally, here is our beloved record player. We love to listen to music and hang out talking almost every night. The awesome painting is another piece by my hubby.
I didn't show you everything, but that is the general idea. Some of you may be wondering about the kitchen. I spend a lot of time in there, but it is really a very boring apartment design.
So, I hope you enjoyed the tour of our digs.

Lovely! Thank you so much for the fun tour. I love all the treasures you've found at thrift stores and other unusual locations. You both have great eyes for finding (and making) special things!
Wonderful! Tu so much for sharing!
What a lovely 'visit'.
I love seeing people's homes too. Thanks for the tour. And, I also love thrift store finds, although I lean more towards the flea market. A good chunk of my apartment is flea market finds!
You're lucky, the flea markets here are disappointing at best.
I love home tours and yours did not disappoint.
I love, love, love Ryan Berkely! I have three of his prints hanging in one of my bathrooms. (I've been eyeing the sloth one and want to add him to my collection.)
Beautiful! You guys have done such a great job decorating. It takes patience (and a bit of luck) to find such cool things at thrift stores, and you have really done well!
And the film company my husband works for is owned by Mardel which is a part of Hobby Lobby, so....keep buying impractical furniture there! In a small way it keeps us afloat! =)
Wow I really like that last painting he did, so intriguing.
Your place looks so huge! Or is it just the photography? Seriously, I think I could fit two of my apartments into your place!
I love your cradenza - I grew up with the cradenza-esque style. We had one in our house, my Grams had one, as did my aunts, etc. I need that kind of storage space now!
Credenzas are our obsession. We have three that we've rescued!
I am very JEALOUS of your apt! BTW love the typewriter on top of the computer cabinet.
Thanks Maria for sharing with us! I absoloutely love the peacock painting and the chest underneath, my favourite! Your credenza is so beautiful too, what serious eye candy treats!
oh my goodness, this is just tooo wonderful! i love the solid colors :)
I think people would be surprised if they'd seen your apartment before you made it a home. It is just an ordinary little 2 bedroom apartment. However, with the skill and patience of 2 artists at work, it has been transformed into such a lovely home. You're both good "nesters".
Mom
Your home is beautiful! Thank you for the tour. We love the lamp that you purchased because it really does look like you purchased it at a collectible glass store!
I love it! My favourites are those red walls with the pictures:))
