With Certainty

me

Last night I was lecturing to my students and I was discussing how there are different schools of thought for about pretty much every avenue of art history or really any area of life. I could see the wheels turning for some of my students, perhaps this was the first time they had even realized that they live in a world where black and white truths just aren't a reality. I moved on with my lecture, but the thought stayed with me.

I used to want to live in a black and white world. I wanted to know what was right and what was wrong, what was true and what was false. Obviously I came to realize that black and white is different for each and every person. I began to review the list in my mind of things that I knew to be true and really there are few things that I do know with certainty....
  • Donkeys and manatees are adorable
  • Montana is home to me
  • Making something myself is far more satisfying than buying it
  • I am not always right...unless the disagreement is with either of my brothers
  • Going vegan was one of the best choices I have ever made
  • Coloring my hair black in high school was a bad decision. I looked weird

What do you know with certainty?

I Submit to Tagging

Well, I took a short lived stand against tagging, but I give in. It's fun and helpful on lazy blog days. I have been tagged by Tammie and Elizabeth to name 7 random/weird facts about myself. Although I am going to break the rules and tag everyone. I would love to hear your 7 weird/random facts in the comment box!!!

I love that I have been tagged twice. I think it really exhibits what a strangely tight community the blogging world is.
So, without further ado here are 14 (7 for Tammie and 7 for Elizabeth) weird/random facts about yours truly.

7 Weird/Random Facts for Elizabeth
  1. I eat more ketchup than any human probably should. My Mom bought me a ketchup bottle pin which I proudly wear on my jacket. Truly I eat just plain ketchup. I could eat it with a spoon or slurp it like soup, suck it up through a straw. Hook it to my veins! I love ketchup or catsup.
  2. I am just about done with my MA in art history and my area of interest is French Baroque. If you are not an art snob then you won't understand, but this makes me an outsider. For some reason it is forbidden to love French Baroque, but I do, I really do.
  3. I briefly modeled for an unnamed (it must remain unnamed) cosmetic company. It was really really really weird.
  4. I used to sleep in my younger brother's room when I was little because I was scared of mummies, as in Egyptian mummies. I read some frightening book about mummies and jackals, it really freaked me out.
  5. I have six double jointed toes.
  6. I read magazines from back to front.
  7. I am very arrogant about my handwriting. Eric becomes disgusted (in good humor) with my arrogance, which makes me go extra wild with my scrawling script. I would says it borders on ridiculous.
7 Random/Weird Facts for Tammie
  1. When I was in London I was in desperate need of new shoes. I stopped at a shoe store and asked about size conversions. The store clerk asked me what US size shoe I wear and then laughed at me when I told him that I wear a size 12. He said that they don't carry my size anywhere in the country and then continued to laugh at me.
  2. I have two tattoos. Sorry Grandma, but I have had them for a decade!
  3. If someone pokes me on one side I have to poke the other to make it even. My Dad and Eric love to exploit this.
  4. I laugh uncontrollably at the most inappropriate times (church, work meetings, at lectures). I laugh so hard that I cry. My family calls it going over the edge.
  5. I have been vegetarian since 1999 and vegan since 2000.
  6. I am very distantly related to Lorenzo Lamas.
  7. I have a small gap in my front teeth and I can shoot water through it. Seriously I can shoot water like 15 feet! It is amazing.
