Bags Are Packed...Now What?

Photobucket

My suitcase is packed, ready to be tossed into the car for our drive to labor and delivery. I have even packed a bag full of snacks and reading material for Eric and of course a small bag of stuff for the baby when she finally arrives. I have even put notes on my suitcase reminding me about last minute items like camera and cell phone. I have gone over my list of things to accomplish before the little one arrives. I keep cleaning and cleaning. Menus are planned for the next several months (overkill I know). So, now what am I going to do to occupy these final few days or weeks (please not weeks)?

Yesterday I got a little crafty and made myself some earrings from buttons. First I smoothed out the back. Next I used a little paint to age the buttons and give them a bit of an antique quality. Finally I affixed them to some posts and that was that. It took about 20 minutes and when I was done there was still no baby on the way. Can you tell I am getting a little anxious to meet her?

Do you have any suggestions for ways to use my time instead of being obsessive about meeting my little girl, because that is all I am doing at this point? I am just so excited!

you are totally at the point of just obsessing about meeting her. :)

i think you are using your time wonderfully!

if you lived closer, you could come and clean with me . . . ;)

i bet if you started a project that was really involved and messy, you'd have to quit in the middle to go to the hospital and leave the whole mess behind . . . haha :)

i hope she gets here soon!

oh! i know! walk and do lunges - lots of lunges and sit cross-legged - (Indian style) - lunges and sitting cross-legged put lots of pressure and may get things going for you!

happy day to you!

When my sister-in-law was due 4 days before my brother's wedding, she chose the end of her pregnancy to tear down the bathroom and do renovation work. She didn't want the little one to delay and keep them stuck in the hospital during the wedding party! It worked, she had him on time, and they both could make it to the wedding. The four-days-old little one got to meet the whole family all at once, and was quite the sensation on that day!

I hope your daughter shows up soon!

You know I just walked until my contractions were good to go. I walked stairs with Legend up and and down, up and down. With Ivy I took to the streets and just power walked right through the little pains until they became big pains. Trust me though you'll know when its time. You might want to try how you got the little girl (trying not to use the word) It worked for me both times also. I worked very hard to go into labor..lol Hey it was July both times and I was very hot..lol

Maybe dive into a good book. It might pass the time quickly too. Every day I wonder, "Did Maria have her baby???" Can't wait to see your precious girl!

I am eager for you too! I still have over a month yet and I'm getting anxious... I kind of want to fall asleep and wake up when it's time. Then I won't stress over the little things. :)

I've been ten days overdue both times. But a long walk helped to start the delivery - just don't walk too far from the car or home...

I am not actually looking to start labor, just to pass the time.

Maria - This is going to seem a bit silly - but I was looking at your website with all your artwork on it today and I thought it was beautiful. So here is my thought - I know you've done some art for the weewoman - but maybe you could draw or paint a baby portrait. Combine the best features of you and Eric that you think she might have and put it on paper. I know when I was pregnant with my son I thought about what he would look like all the time - but can barely draw a stick figure so he always came out like a mutant turtle. I bet you could make some truly beautiful - call it longingly anticipating...haha :). Might be silly - but could be fun?

Pretty earrings!

Crafting is a great way to pass time! I went 12 days over and actually enjoyed it. I was healthy and the baby was healthy, only thing I minded was my tummy getting sooooo big by the time Filip wanted to exit. I passed the time with knitting, and I so love knitting. And the day the contractions actually started (I had kind of started feeling I was going to be pregnant forever) I passed the time by studying house catalogues! Looking for my dream house for my little family... Last project I started a week after my due date (a green baby jacket) and actually never finished. But will definetely finish it for my next baby.

I remember cleaning and sorting & resorting right until I was in labor. A good book or small project might help to pass the time. Do you knit by chance?
