Weekend Review

Wow, I had a crazy weekend. Saturday I was all over the place. I woke up early and was out the door by 7:30. My mother and I were participating in a strange, but thankfully lucrative, craft fair (read about it here). Around noon Cordelia and I left the craft fair to watch some of Eric's concert---to be clear he is the drummer in the band. While we were on our way to the show Cordelia kept asking, "Daddy gonna rock out?" I told her that he would indeed rock out

Here is a little video of Cordelia dancing at the show. Please excuse the garbled music, I took this with my phone.

After the concert it was time for Cordelia to have a nap. I took her home and got her down. Eric and I continued our dance of responsibilities. He came home from the show and it was back to the craft fair for me.

We ended our day by having dinner with some wonderful friends. The weather was nice so we were able to sit outside and have some dinner. Couldn't have asked for a better end to a hectic, but lovely, day.

The rest of the weekend was jam packed as well. I did some work around the house, but mostly tried to get in a few walks through the neighborhood and some time outside. While doing some yard work in the front I asked Cordelia what we should name our big cotton-less cottonwood tree. She confidently responded that we should call her Jelly.

I have been marveling at the gradual seasonal changes we are beginning to see evidenced in the foliage.

Summer Evening Second Try

Last week Eric, Bumblebee and I attempted to go and see the weekly outdoor concert in our small town, but it had been canceled. So this week it was on. After dinner we grabbed a blanket, Bumblebee and our camera and headed to the show.

At the Park 7/17/09

It was a regular small town American experience. There were hundreds of locals out with lawn chairs, a few entrepreneurs pulling around a wagon with treats, lots of dogs, and tons of people of all ages. What was this amazing show you might ask?

Municipal Band 7/17/09

Well, we watched the Municipal Band. The band played a bunch of old big band songs. There was a gentleman with a great voice who would introduce each song and give a little background history on the song. Halfway through the evening a local musician gave the band a break and played a quick set.

The crowd was great. We were highly entertained by a little girl who was doing her own tumbling routine a few feet away. Her tumbling kept bringing her ever closer, for a look at Bumblebee.

The weather was so perfect. The night was lovely. We'll definitely head back next week.

Beautiful Day and a Goodbye

Yesterday we got going a bit later than usual. Friday night we had gone to a concert downtown and the concert didn't get out until quite late. We decided to take Bumblebee on her favorite walk which, thankfully, is near our house.

The walk has two water features. Above she visits the fountain and below she is in a stream (I say stream for lack of a better term). Until recently Bumblebee refused to get into the stream. One day she watched as a jogger ran by and his dog was running alongside, but splashing in the stream. Well, wouldn't you know it, after that dog splashed by Miss Bumblebee hopped right into the water and acted like it was something she had always done. What a follower. So, now we walk on the path and she trots alongside us in the water.

I also noted the tree below. I decided it looks like someone who has gotten their first gray hair. The tree is all green and summery with the exception of the errant branch which has turned red and fall like.

After the walk we went out and ran some errands. We came home and did a crazy deep cleaning of the house. Later, I baked some banana bread and we watched Alias (we are hooked).

My brother and his fiancée , Sara, stopped by with their moving truck, two cats (Shiva and Vashdi) and toy poodle (Cocoa). They are moving down to Arizona! I am excited for the new change in their life, but I will certainly miss seeing them so often.
