Week in Phone Photos Vol. 3

 Let's look back over the week via photos that I took with my phone shall we?

Our local library has a summer reading program that is really great. I am not sure what this mad scientist thing is all about, but it is linked to the program. The girls enjoyed it so that's what really counted.

I threw a baby shower for a friend on Saturday. I love celebrating life events with people, helping them to make memories.

We went to the local antique fair. They have the fair about 4 times a year and we usually hit it up. No major scores this time, but it is always fun to look around.

The girls and I joined Sadie and Sarah for Science Camp, a two hour (hand's on) science class that is geared toward youngsters.

Eric's parents were traveling through the state on their way to a VFW meeting in MT and joined us for mall lunch. The girls were thrilled to have both sets of grandparents all to themsleves.

Tragedy.

Corn Maze 2013

Last year was the first annual Wimmerson (Wolfson+Wimmer) Corn Maze Adventure (click here). We didn't exactly agree to make it an annual event or anything, but when the Wolfpack told us they were going while we were in Montana last week we cried for hours. Then they texted that their plans had fallen through due to weather and we were like, "Oh no! So sorry to hear that!" Then we were all, "Well...want to go together again?" So it was born, another Corn Maze adventure!



Last year Elise and Ari were still learning to hold their heads upright so the fun was limited. This time around we had four very wild children who were ready to do the corn maze right. 

For the record, Eric took nearly all of the photos (unless otherwise labeled) check his work out here. Since we were at the maze we took about 10 million photos, it is the law. There were vats of dried kernels of corn, a train made of old barrels, hay art(?), mazes, tire swings,etc.

So far I have found corn in my pockets, Elise's diaper, the washing machine. To be clear the corn was in this morning's diaper...

Winter Hath Arrived!

I had vague dreams of snow and cold last night. Small wonder considering the arctic blast we've been dealing with the past couple of days. The snow started falling on Wednesday night, lightly at first, but by yesterday morning the snow was laying in a thick blanket across the ground. The thermostat isn't expected to even flirt with the 30sF.



When the weather gets like this I often wonder about homesteaders, those folks who thought this was a good place to make a go for it. Sure, they probably found Wyoming in the spring or summer, but one winter here is enough to give you a decent education in cold. I know that my great great grandparents homesteaded here and I just shake my head in wonder that I've come from such hearty stock. I'm afraid that I wouldn't have made it in Wyoming back then....I would have wimped out and headed for the Pacific Northwest, because heaven knows I would never survive the heat of the Southwest!



Thankfully I was made for here and now. So, I am equipped with the powers to adjust the thermostat, curl up under a blanket, drink soy hot chocolate and have my husband sit on my feet when I become desperate.



Today, as the cold settles in we will be indoors. I plan to visit with a friend, write, play with a toddler, hang out with my husband and be so thankful that I have all the conveniences of the modern world. I will just enjoy looking at the crisp white layer of snow that covers our yards. I can marvel and the sparkle of snow as the cold wind carries it through the air. I can just be thankful for a warm day indoors.

Wyoming Morning

Photos Found

Do you have an overabundance of photography saved onto your computer too? Eric and I have had a digital camera since 2005 and we have taken photos nearly every day since 2005. You can imagine that it really adds up quickly. Even more so since Cordelia was born. So, we've been busy trying to get a good organizational system in order. We have also been deleting photos that we don't like/need. For instance we had 5 photos of Bumblebee sitting next to a stuffed basset hound, not sure why...

While we've been searching through the photos we have been finding great photos that tell a story or give a glimpse into our lives from a few years ago. I thought I would share a few of them today.

New Mexico sunset

Eric grew up in New Mexico and I lived there for many years. When we return to visit we always make it a point to watch the beautiful New Mexico sunsets.

While in Denver we discovered the botanic gardens. We went there any time of year to just walk around and enjoy the beauty of the natural world. This photo was taken in the rain forest room.

This is a photo taken from the night we visited an MCA installation opening in Denver. The lights were the entire exhibit. We went to many exhibitions and openings while we were in the city. This particular opening was hard to reach and we spent a lot of time searching for a place to park. I also recall that I had very uncomfortable shoes on.
